When I was attending Dixie State College Fall Semester of 2010, I was taking a class called Freshman Music Experience. Dumbest and most pointless class ever. But... because of this class, I have the title to my blog. We were asked to write a "Personal Mission Statement", a phrase, saying, statement, whatever to remind ourselves how we wanted to live our lives. I thought hard about this one. There were so many things I wanted to say, so many things I want to accomplish in this life, so I decided to just make a general outline of how I wanted to live. Something that everything could tie into in one way or another. So here it is..
I will Lead. Learn. Live. And Love.
I will lead my life with passion, listening to my heart.
I will learn to trust and be trusted, believing in myself.
I will live in respect, paving my own path.
And I will love unconditionally, following my dreams.
I was a little more specific of ways I wanted to live by these words. But just the four words in general- Lead, Learn, Live, and Love- provide so much meaning and definition in my life.
I am a leader. I'm not power hungry or selfish, but I do love leading people. I have a strong voice and opinion, and I will often share it.
I learn everyday. Some may think you stop learning after high school, or college, or even elementary school? But it is simply not true. Learning is a part of life. I love learning and trying new things. It keeps life interesting and real.
Live. I hope that everyone will discover the joys of living. I've seen people close to me go through some REALLY hard times, no longer feeling the desire to live. I've even had these feelings myself. But, we must learn that everyone has problems. Some may seem small and insignificant, others like the world may just end while you're sleeping.. but we ALL have them. It is such an important thing to learn how to live. And to appreciate life. We are all here to experience joy and sometimes we just need reminding of that.
Finally, Love. Love is SUCH an important thing in my life. I try to live my life through LOVE. Love is my religion and I hope to live loving everyone I come in contact with and everything around me. We are so blessed to be here, so we may as well enjoy it, and learn to just. simply. love.
So, what's your Personal Mission Statement? Take some time to yourself and figure out what it is. Allow yourself to open your mind, and discover You.
